Chat & Sharing Experience

Problem

BBM's chat lacked modern interaction patterns. There was no native media editing before sending, no intuitive reply mechanics, and no quick gesture-based interactions that users had come to expect from leading messaging apps.

Approach

Designed a complete media editor, custom in-app camera, reply-to-bubble interactions for all chat types, event creation flow, swipe-to-reply, swipe-to-view message status, and a full range of sharing gestures.

Result

Modernised the core chat experience with gesture-based interactions, bringing BBM in line with contemporary messaging standards while retaining its unique identity.
